Plate & Frame Press

The Plate & Frame Press is relatively new (and simple) technology in the Americas to treat the underflow of a Thickener or Clarifier.  With the process proven in Europe for years, McLanahan is proud to offer the Matec Plate & Frame Press under an exclusive arrangement for North, Central & South America.

Plate & Frame Presses have been around for over 30 years designed and engineered to operate with pressures up to 7 or 8 Bar.  This pressure was sufficient for dewatering fines containing large amounts of sand, lime or other easy to dewater materials, but is absolutely not enough pressure to dewater fines containing high percentages of clay or other super-fine particles.

The Matec Plate & Frame Press was designed several years ago to operate at pressures up to 18 Bar using their pateneted HPT (High Pressure Technology), completely eliminating the use of lime and reducing cycle times of the Press.

The Presses are designed to dewater very fine solids (-325 mesh) from wash water by pumping solids (via high pressure) through Plate & Frames wrapped with filter cloth and forming easy-to-handle, solid dry cakes that can be transported via truck or conveyor belt.  The major advantage the Plate & Frame Press has versus the Belt Filter Press is that the units require no additional polymer / chemicals after the Thickener and no person is needed to watch the system run.

  • Capacities range from 4 STPH to 37 STPH with one unit.
